Class Description
In photography III students will continue to explore digital photography techniques and compositions involving more complex problems. Students will also explore styles, themes, history and techniques of photography and create a collection of artwork. Computer imaging /graphic design and media arts techniques will be employed in the creation of images. Students will be evaluated on skill, variety, creativity and sense of aesthetic, audience comprehension and verbal critique of photographic presentation. Students are responsible for a $15.00 lab fee.
Class Objectives
This class is an introduction to digital photography. By the end of this term students should have met the following objectives:
- Develop a series of artwork that expresses an idea and demonstrates learning.
- Use a variety of composition techniques to create well composed images.
- Apply the elements and principles of design to photography.
- Develop an in-depth knowledge of Adobe Photoshop.
- Revise personal artwork based on feedback.
- Reflect on personal artwork.
- Analyze personal artwork.
Students are expected to go on approximately one photo shoot per week taking a minimum of twenty photographs and will turn in four photographs every other Friday.
Grading
Credit for Photography III is dependent on the students’ final grade. Final grades are broken down as follows:
Photo Check-In 20%
Students will be assigned each photography assignment one week prior to the due date. The following Monday students will bring assigned photographs to class. 2 points will be deducted per late day.
Daily Points 20%
Students are awarded 2 points for each day they come to class on time and prepared, and use their work time appropriately as deemed by the teacher. ½ point will be lost for a tardy/excused absence, ½ – 1 point can be lost for use of class time, and 2 points will be lost for each unexcused absence.5 weekly points are deducted for playing computer games.
Projects 50%
Projects are expected to be worked on both in and out of the classroom. Students are required to critique each of their works in Photography I.
Formal Assessments 10%
Students are required to participate in class critiques and will be assessed on their input of the STMA critique process: Describe, Analyze, Interpret, and Evaluate.
Before/After School Hours
Students are able to work on projects before school. High School Art club will be meeting after winter break on Wednesdays and Thursdays 3:30-5:00.

Camera, Technology & Photoshop
Students will understand camera controls.
Students will know how to use Photoshop to edit and enhance their images.

Students will revise their artwork based on feedback.
Students will analyze artwork.
